When we say we’re refreshed, every one of us can have a different point of reference. Let’s see if I can express what ‘being refreshed’ means to me.
It’s taking a deep breath and smelling early Spring. It’s being surrounded by things that make me feel alive and joyful. Yes, it’s spiritual and expansive and peaceful all at the same time. The creative people at the Pantone Color Institute nailed it this year when they chose “Greenery” at the color of the year for 2017. When it comes to color, green couldn’t be more refreshing!
I love the way the Pantone publicists describe Greenery as “a fresh and zesty yellow green that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. A life-affirming shade, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality.”
At Art & Frame on Main, we recently changed our display window to feature dozens of artful accessories that reflect the many tones and shades of greenery. One might say that our artists were ahead of the game! Actually, green has been a constant through time because it’s part of our natural world, and artists innately know this! By being named the color of the year, it’s being pulled from the periphery to the forefront.
While writing this, my eyes drifted up to a canvas above my desk (see top photo), and there it is – the spring-green of the pears that makes the composition refreshing. Funny that I never looked at it this way before!
I have 3 invitations for you:
- Look around your environment for the splashes of green that add a refreshing touch. Smile and give it a nod.
- Stop by Art & Frame on Main to check out our display window. You can smile and give it a nod, too!
- Contact us to receive our monthly electronic newsletter so you can learn when our next “Art After Hours” event will take place – featuring live artists and their new, refreshing works in greenery!
